The Palm Springs School for Social Research is an educational initiative dedicated to restoring critical theory as a serious, rigorous, and public intellectual practice.
Drawing on the legacy of the Frankfurt School’s analyses of modernity, culture, and authoritarianism, the PSSSR treats theory as a living research practice rather than an academic ornament. In a time of political turmoil and social confusion, contemporary liberalism itself has become an obstacle to the full flourishing of societies and subjects. Older political ideologies persist largely in exhausted, zombified, or parodic forms.
Against this backdrop, the PSSSR promotes creative theoretical engagement with the present that is largely unavailable within traditional institutions of any political orientation.
